Employee Injured in Accident at John Wayne Airport


Gun Accidentally Discharged in Administrative Office

Santa Ana, CA (August 26, 2020) – An employee was injured when a gun discharged at John Wayne Airport. The accident occurred on the morning of August 26 at the Santa Ana airport. 

 An Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputy was in the airport’s administrative office when the gun accidentally went off. The bullet hit the airport employee in the arm. She was hit by a round that penetrated a wall. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The sergeant was assigned to the airport and there in an official capacity. The incident is currently under investigation.
