Gary Hurlbut Killed in Crash on Manzanita Avenue


Adrian Philip Almaraz Arrested for DUI in Fatal Carmichael Accident

Carmichael, CA (June 5, 2020) – A man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Carmichael. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of June 5 on Manzanita Avenue.

Adrian Philip Almaraz, 30, of Fair Oaks, was driving a GMC pickup truck on Manzanita Avenue when he drifted into the adjacent lanes and hit Gary Hurlbut of Carmichael, who was riding a scooter on the sidewalk. The GMC then hit a light pole and a Toyota Camry.

Hurlbut was killed in the crash. Almaraz was arrested for DUI and vehicular manslaughter. He is currently at the Sacramento County Jail.
