California Veterans Home of Yountville Suffers First Coronavirus Death
Yountville, CA (July 18, 2020) – A California Veterans Home of Yountville employee has died from COVID-19. The woman died on July 18.
Gwendolyn Robinson, 62, and her husband both become infected with COVID-19. She had worked at the facility until the day before she was hospitalized. She was pretty confident she did not contract the virus from the California Veterans Home of Yountville, since the staff took precautions and nobody else had tested positive. This was the facility’s first COVID-19 death.
Robinson, who worked at the retirement facility for 12 years, developed a fever and nausea just days before she died. She tested positive for coronavirus the following day. She was hospitalized the next day. Just three days, she struggled to breathe and speak. She said goodbye to her family via Facetime
Her husband also became infected with COVID-19. They were hospitalized together and managed a phone call from their hospital beds before Robinson died on July 18.
