Salinas, CA (September 26, 2019) – A woman was killed after she was hit by a Union Pacific freight train in Salinas. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of September 26 at Highway 183 and McFadden Road.

Isabel Montes, 50, of Marina, was driving a flatbed fruit truck and transporting equipment from one field to another. She drove across the train tracks at an unmarked crossing on private property near the intersection. She was unaware that the train was approaching and was hit by a Union Pacific freight train. 

The woman died from her injuries. Nobody aboard the train was injured.
