Sleeping Driver Hits Bicyclist in Fatal Bakersfield Accident

Bakersfield, CA (March 10, 2020) – A bicyclist was hit and killed by a driver asleep at the wheel in Bakersfield. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of March 10 at Union Avenue and Columbus Street.

The accident happened when a man driving his car on Columbus Street fell asleep. The driver woke up and unexpectedly turned, hitting a bicyclist stopped at the intersection. The bicyclist, identified as Ismael Arrenaviz, died at the accident scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the crash site. 

The operator of the involved vehicle stopped and cooperated with the law.
