Jack McGarey Killed in Workplace Accident in California Department of Public Health Building


State Employee Electrocuted in Fatal Sacramento Accident

Sacramento, CA (May 22, 2020) – A state employee was electrocuted and killed in a workplace accident in Sacramento. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of May 22 at the California Department of Public Health building.

Jack McGarey, 51, of Sacramento, was working inside the building when he was electrocuted. The cause is unknown. Firefighters found McGarey in the basement of the building. They performed CPR on him and took him to a local hospital, where he later died.
