Truck Crashes Into Walnut Orchard in Fatal Modesto Accident

Fatal Accident 3

Modesto, CA (September 29, 2019) – A woman was killed in a solo-vehicle crash in Modesto. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of September 29 on Paradise Road.

Ignacio Franco, 40, from Modesto was driving a Ford F-150 pickup on Paradise Road, near Illinois Avenue. For unknown reasons, he veered to the right, partially leaving the road. He was arguing with his passenger, 42-year-old Jennifer Chavez, also from Modesto.

The steering wheel was yanked sharply to the left. The Ford skidded sideways and hit several trees in a walnut orchard. The vehicle then overturned.

Chavez, who was not wearing her seat belt, died at the accident scene. Franco was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and loved ones of Jennifer Chavez.

Hidden FDA Database Concealed Reports of Surgical Stapler Malfunctions

A hidden FDA database of medical device failures was shut down in June 2019. The database contains medical device reports submitted to the FDA via its Alternative Summary Reporting Program from 1999 to 2019. Reports which were sent to this database were not, until recently, made public. The Alternative Summary Reporting Program is a non-public database, unlike the FDA’s MAUDE database which publicly logs medical device failures or defects for public review.
