Kenneth Bates Arrested for DUI in Fatal Visalia Accident

Fatal Accident

Visalia, CA (August 14, 2019) – A woman was killed in a DUI crash in Visalia. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of August 14 at Giddings Street and Vassar Avenue.

Jennifer Pinkham, 20, was crossing the intersection when she was hit by Kenneth Bates, 50, who was traveling north in his Ford F-150. Pinkham was taken to a local hospital, where she later died. Bates was arrested for DUI and booked into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility.

E-Cigarette Use Linked To ‘Cobalt Lung’

A case study published in the European Respiratory Journal in December 2019 described a 49-year-old in California who developed hard-metal pneumoconiosis after using e-cigarettes for only six months. The disease is also known as “cobalt lung.” The National Institutes of Health describes the disease as a “rare but serious disease of the lungs associated with inhalational exposure to tungsten or cobalt dust.”
