Victim Hit by Logging Equipment in Fatal Orick Accident

Orick, CA (August 27, 2020) – A man was killed in a logging accident in Orick. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of August 27 at Johnson and Bald Hills roads.

John Henry Sims, Jr., 70, from Crescent City, was hit by two pieces of logging equipment on a rural property. Emergency crews performed life-saving measures, but Sims, Jr. died from his injuries. Cal/OSHA is investigating the incident.
