Child Killed When Police Car Rear-Ends Sedan in Fatal Stockton Accident

Stockton, CA (December 14, 2019) – A 1-year-old child was killed in a crash in Stockton. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of December 14 on Interstate 5.

A police deputy was in a patrol car heading north on Interstate 5, near Charter Way. His car rear-ended a Ford sedan. Inside were a woman and her 1-year-old child.

The impact caused both vehicles to go off the road and down an embankment. The deputy performed CPR on the child. The child, identified as Kevin Hart, was airlifted to a children’s hospital, where he later died.

The woman and the deputy were both injured and taken to a local hospital. The deputy has since been released. The mother is still in critical condition.
