Liquor Store Employee Dies While Trying to Stop Robbery

Man Flies Off Hood of Car in Fatal Long Beach Incident

Long Beach, CA (July 23, 2020) – A liquor store employee died after trying to stop a robbery in Long Beach. The fatal incident occurred on the evening of July 23 at Anaheim Street and Magnolia Avenue.

A man was trying to rob a liquor store in the 300 block of W. Anaheim Street. The clerk chased after the suspect. He leaped onto the hood of the suspect’s silver sedan to stop him, but the suspect drove away. He kept swerving from side to side until the clerk fell off at Anaheim Street and Magnolia Avenue, about three blocks away. The clerk flew off the hood and landed on the pavement. He died from his injuries.

Police are still looking for the robbery suspect. He is described as a black man, approximately 40 years old, 5’7”, short dark hair and mustache with a skinny build. He was wearing a black short sleeved shirt and blue jeans.
