Luis Salazar Killed in Workplace Accident at Foster Farms Facility

Victim Pulled Into Production Conveyor in Fatal Turlock Accident

Turlock, CA (April 27, 2020) – A worker was killed while working on a production line at Foster Farms in Turlock. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of April 27 at the turkey processing facility on F Street.

The worker, identified as Luis Salazar, 30, from Turlock, repeatedly fell asleep on the job. The man, who was working on the production line, was awakened several times by co-workers. At one point, he was pulled onto the conveyor belt by his neck. He suffered crushing injuries to his skull and died at the accident scene. 

Salazar was an employee of Marcos Renteria AG Services, Inc. The plant was closed on April 28 and re-opened on April 29. Cal/OSHA is investigating the incident.
