September 6, 2017, Van Nuys: A female cyclist was riding her bike along Sepulveda Boulevard near Stagg Street in Van Nuys at about 11:25 p.m. on September 6th, 2017, when she was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. After the woman was struck, another vehicle hit the woman. The drivers of both vehicles fled the scene. The woman, who was in her 50s, died at the scene.
Erik Limon has been arrested on suspicion of being the driver responsible for initially striking the cyclist and fleeing the scene. His bail has been set at $50,000. Police continue to search for a gold Toyota Camry which subsequently struck the victim a second time but did not stop.
Police are still searching for the victim’s bicycle, which was not at the scene. Investigators suspect that one of the hit and run drivers picked up the bike, considered to be badly damaged, and dumped it after it was struck and dragged.
Witnesses report seeing a car with a flat tire traveling through the area about the time of the accident.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
