Man Injured in Crash on Interstate 5 Near State Route 78

Victim Was Driving Stolen Car in Oceanside Accident 

Oceanside, CA (September 2, 2020) – A man was injured in a crash with a stolen vehicle in Oceanside. The accident occurred on the morning of September 2 on Interstate 5.

Police spotted a Nissan Altima that had been reported stolen. They approached the vehicle, but the driver took off. Police chased the vehicle, but the chase was called off when the driver got onto northbound Interstate 5 and started driving erratically.

Moments later, the Altima crashed on northbound Interstate 5 near eastbound State Route 78. The car ended up on the right shoulder near a lagoon. The driver was trapped inside and had to be rescued by firefighters. He was injured and airlifted to a local hospital. A passenger in the vehicle fled the accident scene and still has not been located.
