Man Killed in Crash on Highway 99 Near Power Line Road


Driver Falls Asleep in Fatal Nicolaus Accident

Nicolaus, CA (January 5, 2020) – A man was killed when the driver of the car he was riding in fell asleep at the wheel in Nicolaus. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of January 5 on Highway 99.

Leonardo Marin was driving a Honda and heading north on Highway 99, near Power Line Road, when he started to fall asleep at the wheel. The Honda went into the adjacent lanes and onto the gravel shoulder. When he overcorrected, the Honda rolled over several times.

Marin and a passenger, a 22-year-old man, were ejected from the vehicle. The passenger died at the accident scene. Another passenger suffered unknown injuries.
