Elderly Man Hit by Car in Fatal La Verne Accident

La Verne, CA (July 31, 2019) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash in La Verne. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of July 31 at Arrow Highway and A Street.

An 89-year-old man was hit by a vehicle at the intersection. Emergency crews found the man lying in the highway. The man died at the accident scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the accident scene.

E-Cigarette Use Linked To ‘Cobalt Lung’

A case study published in the European Respiratory Journal in December 2019 described a 49-year-old in California who developed hard-metal pneumoconiosis after using e-cigarettes for only six months. The disease is also known as “cobalt lung.” The National Institutes of Health describes the disease as a “rare but serious disease of the lungs associated with inhalational exposure to tungsten or cobalt dust.”
