Maria Alay Collides With Tanker Truck at East Keyes and Geer Roads
Alay Runs Red Light, Suffers Major Injuries in Turlock Accident
Turlock, CA (May 28, 2019) – A woman suffered major injuries after colliding with a tanker truck carrying milk in Turlock. The accident occurred on the morning of May 28 at East Keyes and Geer roads.
Hughson resident Maria Alay, 55, was driving a Honda when she ran a red light at the intersection. At the same time, Turlock resident Jonathan Calderon, 27, was heading east in a Western semi truck hauling a milk tanker. He veered to the left when he saw the Honda.
The two vehicles collided, causing the truck to overturn. The Honda came to rest on Keyes Road. Alay was rescued by firefighters after being pinned inside her vehicle for about an hour. She was airlifted to a local hospital with major injuries. Calderon crawled out a window of the truck. He suffered minor injuries, but declined medical attention.
