Maria Vianey Navarro Killed, 2 Injured in Crash on Old River Road
Ronald Pierce Arrested for DUI, Street Racing in Fatal Bakersfield Accident
Bakersfield, CA (November 24, 2019) – A woman was killed and two others were injured when they were hit by a racing vehicle in Bakersfield. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of November 24 on Old River Road.
Bakersfield police officers were called to a crash in the 1200 block of Old River Road. The found a woman dead inside a van. She has been identified as Maria Vianey Navarro. Two children suffered moderate to major injuries.
It was determined that a Ford Mustang and a Dodge Ram were street racing when the driver of the Mustang lost control and hit Navarro’s van. Navarro was not involved in the race. The crash caused Navarro’s van to then spin into another truck.
The driver of the Mustang, Ronald Pierce, 50, was arrested at the accident scene. He faces multiple charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, reckless driving and participating in a speed contest.
