Cortez Loses Control in Fatal La Quinta Accident

La Quinta, CA (July 31, 2019) – A woman was killed when she lost control of her car in La Quinta. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of July 31 at Eisenhower Drive and Calle Sinaloa.

La Quinta resident Miki Cortez, 57, was driving a BMW when she lost control on the roundabout at Eisenhower Drive and Calle Sinaloa. Her vehicle collided with the concrete La Quinta Cove sign at the intersection. Cortez died at the accident scene.

E-Cigarette Use Linked To ‘Cobalt Lung’

A case study published in the European Respiratory Journal in December 2019 described a 49-year-old in California who developed hard-metal pneumoconiosis after using e-cigarettes for only six months. The disease is also known as “cobalt lung.” The National Institutes of Health describes the disease as a “rare but serious disease of the lungs associated with inhalational exposure to tungsten or cobalt dust.”
