Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Highway 101 Near Dutcher Creek Road


Motorcycle, Car Collide in Fatal Cloverdale Accident

Cloverdale, CA (August 1, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Cloverdale. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of August 1 on Highway 101.

A motorcycle colliding with a car on U.S. Highway 101 in Cloverdale, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded to the crash at approximately 1:18 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 north of Dutcher Creek. The preliminary investigation by the CHP has indicated that a Volvo, driven by 

Scott Stanton, 51, of Willits, was traveling southbound on Highway 101, near Dutcher Creek. He was driving a Volvo, with a Kawasaki motorcycle behind him. The Volvo drifted onto the shoulder and hit a guardrail. The Volvo veered back into the lane, directly in front of the motorcycle. 

The motorcyclist tried to brake, but was unsuccessful. The motorcyclist, an unidentified man, died at the accident scene. Stanton was not injured in the crash.
