Nurse Ashley Gomez Dies From COVID-19
Woman Dies Day After Giving Birth to Sixth Child
Woodland Hills, CA (January 3, 2021) – A woman working as a nurse at a living facility suddenly developed COVID-19. Within days, the pregnant woman ended up at the hospital. She had an emergency C-section and died the next day.
Just before 2020 ended, Ashley Gomez, 30, was working as a nurse at congregate living facilities in Van Nuys. Out of the blue, the pregnant mother of five boys developed shortness of breath, a common COVID-19 symptom.
The nurse, from Northridge, tried to fight the virus on her own at home. Then she developed a cough and fever. Her family told her to go to the hospital. She was admitted to Kaiser Woodland Hills the next day.
Her condition got worse. She had an emergency C-section on January 2, bringing her sixth child into the world. She never got to hold him. Her health declined and she was put on a ventilator the next day. Within hours, her family decided to turn off the ventilator. She died almost immediately, on January 3.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and loved ones of Ashley Gomez.
