Nurse Sally Fontanilla Dies From COVID-19
Victim Likely Contracted Virus at St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley
Apple Valley, CA (October 5, 2020) – A nurse recently lost her battle with COVID-19. The nurse, who had spent 20 years of her life caring for people, died at St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley.
Sally Fontanilla, 51, died on October 5, just two weeks before her 52nd birthday. She has been on a ventilator for two months. She had taken some time off at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and returned to work over the summer. That was when she contracted the virus. She had treated patients with COVID-19.
Fontanilla was worried about contracting coronavirus because she had risk factors such as diabetes, asthma and bronchitis. Fontanilla’s husband of 30 years, Ben, also works at St. Mary Medical Center.
