Suspect Killed in Culver City Incident

Culver City, CA (August 4, 2020) – A police officer was injured in a shooting in Culver City. The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 4 on Washington Boulevard.

Culver City Police received a call about an armed man in a parking structure in the 8800 block of Washington Boulevard. A maintenance worker investigating a water leak in the structure discovered a man had been tampering with the water system. The man was asked to leave, but brandished a knife. The man tried to barricade himself behind a door. When police opened it, the man charged forward with the knife. 

Two officers shot the man. One officer was shot in the leg by one of the officers who had fired at the suspect. The injured officer was hospitalized and is in fair condition. The suspect was taken to a local hospital, but later died.
