Carlo Navarro Out on Bail After Causing Fatal Long Beach Accident

Long Beach, CA (October 31, 2019) – A woman has taken off life support after she was involved in a Long Beach pedestrian crash that also killed her husband and son. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of October 31 at Country Club Drive and Los Cerritos Park Place.

The family was standing on a sidewalk when they were hit by a drunk driver driving a Toyota Sequoia at the intersection. Police found the three people seriously injured. All were taken to local hospitals.

The father, Joseph Awaida, died on November 1. The 3-year-old boy, identified as Omar, died on the morning of November 2. The mother, Raihan Dakhil, was taken off life support and died on November 3.

The driver of the SUV, Long Beach resident Carlo Navarro, 20, was arrested for DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. He is now free on $100,000 bail.
