Sacramento County Employee Dennis Catanyag Killed in Stabbing


Mohammed Anwaribrah Musallam Arrested for Fatal Incident

Sacramento, CA (January 14, 2021) – An employee of Sacramento County’s Food Protection Program has been killed in a stabbing while on the job. The fatal incident occurred on January 14 in the 1400 block of Fulton Avenue. 

The owner of Mosaic Mediterranean Cuisine ran into the Little Caesars pizza shop, telling him to lock his door because an employee had a large knife. The man attacked two men in the parking lot. 

One man was stabbed several times but is expected to survive. The other man tried to get away but stumbled onto a busy street. The victim, identified as Dennis Catanyag, 46, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. He worked as a county food inspector for 15 years. Restaurant employee Mohammed Anwaribrah Musallam, 38, was arrested for the killing.
