Samantha Clarke Injured by Customer at Big 5 Sporting Goods

Woman Hit in Face in Modesto Retail Accident

Modesto, CA (May 6, 2020) – A woman was injured in a customer attack at Big 5 Sporting Goods. The accident occurred on May 6 on Dale Road in Modesto.

Samantha Clarke of Modesto was attacked by a customer while working. The store was unable to hold an item for the female customer and she got angry. The customer grabbed multiple items off the counter and threw them at Clarke. One of the objects was made of metal and hit Clarke in the face.

Clarke, who had worked for Big 5 for 17 years, said it happened so quickly that she didn’t have time to defend herself. She posted photos of the bloody incident on social media.

The suspect left the store before police could arrest her. However, the Modesto Police Department posted a photo showing the customer wearing a black mask in the store’s parking lot. They are hoping to get tips about the woman’s whereabouts.
