Speed, Alcohol, Drugs Factors in Fatal Santa Clarita Accident

Santa Clarita, CA (January 23, 2020) – A teen was killed in a crash in Santa Clarita. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of January 23 on the 14 Freeway.

A Honda Civic was traveling south on State Route 14, near Sierra Highway, at a high rate of speed. A Volvo truck was stopped on the right shoulder when the Honda rear-ended the truck. The driver of the Honda, Santiago Cabezas, 19, of Santa Ana, died in the crash. The driver of the Volvo was not injured. Speed, alcohol and drugs are believed to play a role in the accident.
