Sheriff’s Deputy Injured in Shootout

Deputy Shot Twice in Rancho Cordova Incident

Rancho Cordova, CA (August 22, 2020) – A sheriff’s deputy was injured in a shooting in Rancho Cordova. The incident occurred on the evening of August 22 on Dutchess Way.

A woman had called police saying her grandson, a 29-year-old man, pointed a gun at her. The woman had a restraining order against the man. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident on Dutchess Way. They spotted the man and chased him.

The man shot at the police. A Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy was shot several times. Deputies fired back and the man was hit. He later died from his injuries. An unknown woman was shot in the head during the shootout. She also died from her injuries.

The sheriff’s deputy was taken to a local hospital. He underwent surgery and is currently in critical condition.
