Store Employee Injures Wrist in Assault


Noel Figueroa Arrested for Robbery, Assault in Sonora Shoplifting Incident

Sonora, CA (April 29, 2020) – A man was arrested after assaulting an employee who was trying to prevent a theft. The incident occurred on the evening of April 29 in Sonora. 

Noel Figueroa, 22, entered a store in the 1000 block of Sanguinetti Road. He took several items without paying for them. A store employee locked the door to prevent him from leaving. When she asked Figueroa to pay for the items, he grabbed the woman’s hand and began to twist her wrist. He then forced her to open the door and fled the scene. The employee injured her wrist in the assault.

An employee took photos of the man, but police could not find him. The next day, a Sonora police officer spotted Figueroa pushing a bicycle towards a homeless camp. Figueroa was arrested for felony robbery and assault and is currently being held on a $50,000 bail.
