Susan Williams Killed in Petaluma Car Accident
Petaluma, CA (April 24, 2018) – A distinguished marine biologist from UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory was killed in a Petaluma car accident on the morning of April 24. The crash injured three others and closed Lakeville Highway for several hours.
Susan Williams, of Bodega Bay, died in the crash, which occurred in Petaluma on Lakeville Highway near South McDowell Boulevard Extension. The accident occurred when a Chevrolet Silverado crossed the double yellow lines and drove into oncoming traffic. It collided with Williams’ Prius and a Honda Accord. The crash involved six vehicles total.
The Silverado driver and passenger, who were not identified, were hospitalized with serious injuries. The 22-year-old driver of the Honda Accord was also hospitalized with injuries.
At the time of the accident, 66-year-old Williams was traveling in Petaluma on Lakeville Highway to Davis to teach, which she did several times a week.
It is believed that the Silverado pickup crashed head-on with Williams’ Prius on Lakeville Highway. Firefighters covered her car with a tarp and left her body inside the vehicle as they investigated the Petaluma crash.
