Jackson, CA (June 10, 2019) – An elderly man was killed in a head-on crash in Jackson. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of June 10 on Highway 49.

Thomas Diermier, 95, from San Andreas, was heading north on Highway 49, near Sandra Road, in a Lexus RX350. He crossed over a double-yellow line to pass a logging truck when he hit a GMC Denali head-on.

Plymouth resident Sean Vasko, 38, was driving the GMC. He had three 12-year-old passengers inside. All four suffered major injuries and were taken to various hospitals.

The Lexus caught fire after the crash. Emergency crews pulled Diermier out from the burning vehicle, but he died at the accident scene.
