Pinole, CA (December 16, 2019) – Two people were killed in a head-crash in Pinole. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of December 16 on Highway 80. 

Two vehicles collided head-on on eastbound Highway 80 near Appian Way. Two people were killed in the crash. They were identified as Tyra Chappell, 52, of American Canyon, and Frederic Chappell, 76, of Vallejo. The lanes were closed for three hours. 

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and loved ones of Tyra Chappell and Frederic Chappell.

E-Cigarette Use Linked To ‘Cobalt Lung’

A case study published in the European Respiratory Journal in December 2019 described a 49-year-old in California who developed hard-metal pneumoconiosis after using e-cigarettes for only six months. The disease is also known as “cobalt lung.” The National Institutes of Health describes the disease as a “rare but serious disease of the lungs associated with inhalational exposure to tungsten or cobalt dust.”
