Woman Killed in Bicycle Accident on Court Street
Manuel Mesa Faces DUI, Other Charges in Fatal Visalia Accident
Visalia, CA (September 11, 2019) – A woman was killed in a bicycle crash in Visalia. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of September 11 on Court Street.
A 65-year-old woman was riding her bicycle down Modoc Bike Trail and didn’t stop for traffic as she crossed the Court Street. She was hit by a driver, later identified as Manuel Mesa, 40.
Mesa stopped but didn’t help her. Instead, he started to drive away. The woman was still in front of his vehicle. As she tried to get up, Mesa hit her again and dragged her 200 yards beneath his Honda. The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.
Mesa then fled the accident scene. Officers later found him. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for hit and run, DUI and homicide.
