Hopland, CA (May 28, 2019) – A woman died after she drove her vehicle off an embankment in Hopland. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of May 28 on U.S. Route 101 near Mile Marker 5.

A 69-year-old woman was driving a Mercury Tracer on southbound U.S. Route 101 when she went over the embankment in front of Frog Woman Rock. The vehicle landed on its roof along the bank of the Russian River. The woman died at the accident scene. The Hopland Fire Department and California Highway Patrol used a helicopter to recover her body.
