
Yaneth Lopez Valladares Killed While Processing Raisins at Del Rey Packing Company
Woman’s Clothing Caught in Machine in Fatal Del Rey Accident

Del Rey, CA (January 24, 2020) – A woman was killed while processing raisins at Del Rey Packing Company. The fatal accident happened on January 24.
Yaneth Lopez Valladares, 33, was working at Del Rey Packing Company, a raisin processing facility in Del Rey. She was on a Stem Grading Line when her clothes got snagged in a machine. A piece of her clothing got caught on a shaft to a cylinder that breaks up raisin bunches. As a result, Valladares hit her head and was trapped.
Two co-workers witnessed the incident. They immediately shut off the equipment and called 911. Emergency crews arrived, but Valladares died at the accident scene. She had been at the facility for two years.
The Department of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the incident.
