Antioch Man Dies in Fatal Traffic Collision in Pleasant Hill on I 680


The California Highway Patrol stated that around 4:40 am Saturday, they were informed of a hit and run traffic crash on northbound I-680 south of Monument Blvd.

Upon CHP and emergency staff arrival it was determined a pedestrian had been struck by three vehicles.

The victim who was pronounced dead at the scene was later identified as a 20-year-old male from Antioch. His name has not been released.

Witnesses reported that the man was standing in the northbound lanes of I- 680.

The first vehicle to hit the pedestrian left the scene. The vehicle was reported to be white in color and may have been an Acura Integra.

Two other vehicles subsequently struck the downed pedestrian. The drivers of those two vehicles stayed at the scene and gave statements to the authorities.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be a contributing factor.

This collision is still under investigation.
