Attempted Murder Suspect in Custody Following Lake Balboa Crash

An attempted murder suspect was in custody Sunday, Dec. 3 and set to be booked following a fiery car crash in Lake Balboa Saturday evening, authorities said.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, was involved in a traffic collision on Victory Boulevard near Odessa Avenue at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday, according to Los Angeles police and fire officials.

He made “a spontaneous statement to officers there that he believed he had killed someone,” said LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera.

Officers conducted a follow-up investigation with LAPD’s Southwest Division and discovered that a female had been injured in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood earlier that afternoon. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, Herrera said. She had been stabbed in the neck, according to City News Service.

The suspect, who was driving the Jaguar, was taken to a local hospital for his injuries, Herrera said. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital, authorities said.
