Baby Dies in 3-Car Accident on Lakeville Road

Caitlin Marshall, Matthew Swoyer, Ryan Deloye, 2 Others Injured in Petaluma Crash

Petaluma, CA (August 9, 2018) – A 7-month-old baby has died after sustaining blunt force injuries in a Petaluma crash. The fatal crash happened on the evening of August 9 on Lakeville Road.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident, which occurred when a VW Jetta, driven by Granite Bay resident Ryan Deloye, 18, crossed the double yellow lines on Lakeville Road. It headed into the southbound lane, hitting a Ford Explorer head-on.

Caitlin Marshall, 31, from Folsom, was driving the Explorer. She had three female passengers, ages 7 months, 3 and 32. The Explorer was thrown across the roadway, where it collided with a tree. The Jetta spun out of control and hit a second car driven by Fairfield resident Matthew Swoyer, 25.

The two children in the Explorer were critically injured and transported to local hospitals. The 7-month-old later died.

Marshall and her adult passenger suffered major injuries and were also taken to local hospitals. Swoyer and Deloye also suffered minor to moderate injuries and were also hospitalized.

Hidden FDA Database Concealed Reports of Surgical Stapler Malfunctions

A hidden FDA database of medical device failures was shut down in June 2019. The database contains medical device reports submitted to the FDA via its Alternative Summary Reporting Program from 1999 to 2019. Reports which were sent to this database were not, until recently, made public. The Alternative Summary Reporting Program is a non-public database, unlike the FDA’s MAUDE database which publicly logs medical device failures or defects for public review.
