Barbara Newton Dies in Williams Head-On Collision

Williams, CA (June 17, 2018) –  An accident in Williams has led to fatality. The crash occurred around noon on June 17 at the intersection of Highway 16 and 20.

Orangevale resident Barbara Newton, age 52, died after her Ford Fusion hit a Honda Odyssey head on. The crash occurred near the Wilbur Springs Cal Fire Station.

Newton was traveling east on Highway 20 when she suddenly drifted to the right. She lost control after hitting a guardrail. She then hit the Honda head on. The Ford then overturned, blocking the westbound lanes of Highway 20

Newton died at the accident scene. There were five people inside the Honda: Abel Martir, 44, Monica Martir, 43, Isaias Martir, 18, and two 15-year-old girls.

Abel suffered major injuries. Monica and one of the 15-year-old girls suffered moderate injuries. The others were not injured.
