A police chase involving a stolen car led to a crash in Santa Fe Springs. A man fled from Whittier police in the early morning hours of January 30 and crashed near the westbound Telegraph Road off-ramp on the 605 Freeway. A guardrail impaled the car, injuring both the driver and the passenger.
The chase started when a police officer saw the car on Gretna Avenue in Ontario. The driver of the stolen car hit the police car and then took off. The chase went on for seven miles until the car hit a divider and crashed into a guardrail.
The driver ran from the scene, but later surrendered. Firefighters freed the trapped passenger. Both the driver and passenger suffered injuries and were taken to St. Francis Medical Center. The driver faces multiple criminal charges.
