Car Crash Kills Three In Whittier on 605

Three people were killed Tuesday in a multi-car crash that caused one vehicle to burst into flames and shut down the southbound 605 Freeway in Whittier overnight. One person was injured. All lanes on the southbound 605 were blocked for hours as authorities extinguished the vehicle flames and started their investigation.
The crash occurred around 10:19 p.m., near the Washington Boulevard exit. At least three vehicles were involved in the crash. Traffic was backed up for a couple miles, and vehicles were being diverted the freeway off at the exit. Authorities said three people died at the scene. A witness said he tried to help the victims after the pileup which was caused by a man driving a Camaro. The Camaro’s driver survived the crash.
