Car slams into roof of house

On the morning of April 3, residents in a Hayward neighborhood woke up to the strange scene. They found that a Honda sedan had gone airborne and landed on top of a home.

The homeowners had no idea a car crashed onto their roof until neighbors called police. The couple slept through the crash and even left their home that morning without noticing that a car was inside their family room.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 2 a.m. It is believed that the driver was traveling down Fairview Avenue when they lost control. They then hit a guardrail and flew about 30 feet in the air before landing on the roof.

The driver fled the scene, so the accident is being treated as a hit and run. The family room was damaged, but there were no injuries.
