Merced, CA (March 20, 2019) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian crash after running from police in Merced. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of March 20 on Highway 99.

The woman was driving south on Highway 99 north of Franklin Road when she was pulled over by police for a DUI investigation. The woman ran across the highway, with the officer following her.

The woman ran back and forth between the lanes and was hit by a Honda driven by Mirelez Alyssa, 22, from Merced. The Honda was then hit by another Honda driven by Xiong Mai, 25, also from Merced. Sanchez died at the accident scene. Neither driver was injured.
