In March 2015, the Zimmer Corporation recalled approximately 12,000 of its Persona Knee Implants following complaints of high failure rate including premature loosening, instability and evidence of separation of the metal plate.
Unfortunately, the loosening of the metal plate causes severe pain and the need for additional surgery to resolve this very painful condition.
The official name of the implant is the Persona Trabecular Metal Tibial Plate/Persona TM Tibia.
Our information is that Zimmer distributed the Persona knee system in at least 25 states and to at least 13 Veteran’s Administration Medical Centers throughout the United States.
The recall is only for the Persona trabecular metal tibial plate.
Our national medical device team of lawyers, doctors, experts and paralegals are currently investigating side effect claims which may have been caused by the metal tibial plate in the Persona knee implant system – manufactured by Zimmer.
