CHP Officer Injured in Crash on Cottonwood Road

Juan Moreno Arrested for DUI in Bakersfield Accident

Bakersfield, CA (May 11, 2019) – A man was arrested for causing a hit and run accident that injured a CHP officer in Bakersfield. The crash happened on the evening of May 11 on Cottonwood Road.

A CHP Officer was driving eastbound on Highway 58 near Cottonwood Road in a Dodge CHP car. The officer stopped at a red light when he was hit by a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling southbound on Cottonwood Road. Juan Moreno, 48, of Bakersfield, was driving the pickup truck

Moreno was running a red light when hit the officer’s car. He fled the accident scene. He hit a fence and fled on foot. Moreno was later arrested for DUI and felony hit and run. The CHP officer was injured and taken to a local hospital.
