CHP Officer Kirk Griess Killed in Accident on Interstate 80
Fairfield Crash Claims Life of Kirk Griess, 1 Other Motorist
Fairfield, CA (August 10, 2018) – A major accident in Fairfield has killed two people, including a CHP officer. The fatal crash happened on Interstate 80 on the morning of August 10.
Three people were involved in the accident, which happened on westbound Interstate 80 near North Texas Street. A CHP officer has pulled over a driver when a pickup truck suddenly slammed into both vehicles, which were on the shoulder.
The CHP driver, identified as Kirk Griess, and the motorist were taken to a local hospital, where they later died. Griess, 46, had been with the CHP for 19 years. The other victim was identified as a 49-year-old Vallejo man. The driver of the pickup truck that caused the crash is cooperating with police.
