Community Gather Together to Support Couple Injured in Motorcycle Accident
It is easy to assume that many members of any given community hold negative feelings towards motorcycles. I know for myself that I often encounter members of my own community who complain profusely about motorcycles on the road.
An article from LocalNews8.com has served as an edifying force for me. It described the banding together of a community to help two of their own recover from a severe motorcycle injury. This story serves as evidence against the preconceptions I mentioned previously.
The Motorcycle Accident
Jon and Rusty Pocatello were involved in a severe motorcycle accident on August 21st. There were not a lot of details mentioned about how the accident took place. What was mentioned was that it took place at Kraft Road and Main Street in Pocatello.
The Pocatello Fundraiser
Jon is a production painter for Premier Collision Center. His boss, Michael Tolman has proven to be more than your average boss.
Through concern over Jon and Rusty’s financial future, Tolman decided to do something for them to help them with medical bills as well as car and house payments.
The idea came about to have a fundraiser to support Jon and Rusty. The fundraiser involved a classic car show as well as several bands performing.
A Community Effort
The motorcycle accident still has Jon and Rusty recovering, having incurred multiple injuries. They are, no doubt, incredible thankful and surprised by the community effort.
Though only planning to showcase 50 cars, over 120 showed up. The outpouring of support is overwhelming.
The article featured from LocalNews8 provided the following quote from Tolman:
“To me it restores a lot of faith in people in Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Blackfoot. We’ve got people from Utah, Wyoming. I just, people have just really stepped up to help. It’s a really good cause and I’m, overwhelmed.”
