West Covina, CA (March 17, 2019) – A two-vehicle crash in in West Covina has killed one person and injured two others. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of March 17 on the 10 Freeway.

A Ford Explorer and a Nissan Altima collided on the freeway near Barranca Street. The Ford was speeding when it rear-ended the Nissan. The Ford landed on its roof. The driver of the Nissan suffered moderate injuries.

A passenger in the Ford, an 89-year-old man from La Puente, died at the accident scene. The driver, 57-year-old Gerardo Alvarez from La Puente, suffered a serious head injury. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later arrested for drunk driving.
