Terumo Infection Lawsuit

The TCM and TCM II cooling and heating system and the HX2 Temperature Management system are heater cooler medical devices used during surgeries to warm or cool patients as part of their surgical care. These heater cooler devices regulate the temperature of patients who are undergoing such surgeries. The machines manufactured by Terumo include tanks that provide temperature controlled water to external heat exchangers or to warming/cooling blankets through cold water circuits.

Recalled Terumo Cooling And Heating Systems

Unfortunately, the FDA has recently issued a public recall due to multiple adverse event reports submitted to the FDA from patients developing non-tuberculosis mycobacterium infections (NTM) due to these heater cooler devices. These are extremely rare infections. As a result of the FDA’s investigation the manufacturer Terumo has altered the heater cooler devices’ cleaning instructions to reduce infection risk.

If you or your loved one had a surgical procedure and the hospital used one of these heater cooler devices and you have been diagnosed with Non-Tuberculosis Mycobacterium (NTM) you have a claim for monetary damages. We are actively taking these cases throughout the country.

These heater cooler devices were used for patients undergoing cardiac, vascular or cardiothoracic surgery which needed the support of these devices. Accordingly, the type of surgery in which these heater cooler devices were used were cardiac, vascular and cardiothoracic surgeries.
