Driver Killed After Hitting Power PoleA woman was killed on the evening of January 14 when she left the roadway and hit a utility pole. The accident happened in Chula Vista at 9:17 p.m. Sunday. The 58-year-old woman was traveling on I-5 near SR-54 when she suddenly lost control and hit a guardrail. She then slid down an embankment and hit the power pole.

Witnesses described her vehicle as a black sedan. California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert for the area.

It is unknown what caused the woman to hit the guardrail. The crash is still under investigation.
